"Checks" 
Meet Checks, the cutest little reiner prospect ever! Of course I am biased. Actually Checks is very small and quite green for a 3 year old but he is very, very talented. I acquired him from my trainer in a two part deal. First he sold my mare Sweetie to a great rookie home so I could then turn right around and buy Checks. I refused to try him out until Sweetie was gone because I didn't want to get my hopes up if I really, really liked him. I just could not ever afford two show horses.
I tried him out not two days after Sweetie left the ranch and he was very cool to ride. For 5 months total reining training he was doing all the maneuvers as well as Sweetie, and some even better. He feels like the maneuvers are effortless, especially the lead changes.
The plan for him is to have Cory show in the Futurities this fall if he feels Checks can be competitive. Then I will start showing next year in the Green Horse classes and work my way up to some Derbies! |
