I just had the vet out to give Sweetie her shots, check her teeth etc. I asked him what he thought about worming. I typically do a poor job of worming consistently. I will buy a bulk supply of wormer, whatever is on sale, usually Ivermectin. My program, if you can call it that, was not acceptable to him. So, this is the program that my vet has "prescribed" for Sweetie. His logic is to administer the appropriate medications to deal with worms as they hit during the year. He says that every vet has a different thought on worming, so you can verify with your vet, but this will get you started:
Dates and Commercial Product Names, administered every other month:

Jan and March - Strongid
- May and November - Equimax (or Zimectrin Gold)
- July and Sept - Zimectrin
Product Descriptions:
Strongid - Strongid Paste is a pyrantel pamoate dewormer to control large and small strongyles, pinworms, roundworms
Equimax - combines ivermectin and praziquantel to rid horses of all major internal parasites, including tapeworms
Zimectrin Gold - Removes roundworms, tapeworms and bots with a single dose. Contains ivermectin 1.55% and praziquantel 7.75%.
Zimectrin - (ivermectin) 1.87% Paste ANTHELMINTIC AND BOTICIDE |
